About GCEMS Training

The Education division of Grand County EMS plays many roles within the agency. Since medicine is always changing and advancing so must we to stay up to date. GCEMS has some of the most up to date equipment to use and train with which include: 1 Gaumard Hal 3000 Maniken, 2 ALS Laredol Manikins, 1 Simulaids Infant Manikin, 1 Pediatric Manikin, 3 Simulation Rooms, i-STAT System, McGRATH Video Laryngoscopes, LifePAK-15 Cardiac Monitors, LTV-1000 Ventilators, just to name a few.

Staff Training
We provide our staff with training and education on different topics throughout the calendar year to keep their skills fresh and proficient.

Certification Courses
We also provide certification courses to the public and staff which include: CPR, First Aid, ACLS, PEPP, NRP, ATT, IV Endorsement, EMT, EMT/Intermediate/Paramedic Refreshers, NREMT Transition Courses, Basic ECG, NREMT-Basic Skills Testing.

Mandatory Certifications for GCEMS Staff

General
CPR, CEVO-3, ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, AMLS, NRP, HAZMAT Operations, Second Gear (Bridgestone Winter Driving School), E.V.E. 4-EMS (Asault Prevention, Avoiding and Escape), ATT (Assessment and Treatment of Trauma).

EMT/EMT-Basic
State EMT-Basic License, NREMT-Basic, IV Edorsement.

EMT-Intermediate
State EMT-Intermediate License, NREMT-Intermediate (I-99), ACLS, PALS, PEPP, Difficulty Airway Course.

Paramedic
State Paramedic License, NREMT-Paramedic, ACLS, PALS, PEPP, Difficulty Airway Course, CCEMTP (within 1 year after hire - resources and funding permitting).

Middle Park High School Class
Currently GCEMS is working in conjunction with MPHS to offer a EMT class. The class is held at GCEMS station one Mon-Thur and is a two semester long course. When students fully complete the class and finish all testing they will come out with a NREMT certification.
